In Telangana, the Commercial Taxes Department gives a professional tax number (PTIN) automatically to everyone who gets a GST registration; the login details usually come by e-mail within 30 days. Do not apply again for professional tax registration; watch for the e-mail.
✋ You do this yourself

You cannot get this

People who sell only goods or services that are not taxed or are wholly exempt from GST, and farmers who sell only produce from their own land, need not register for GST (CGST Act, section 23). Check again if you start selling taxable goods or services too.

You cannot get this

For a business supplying from Telangana, GST registration becomes compulsory once its total turnover in a financial year crosses ₹20 lakh (CGST Act, section 22). The ₹40 lakh limit that some states have for sellers of goods only does not apply to sales within Telangana (Notification 10/2019-Central Tax). So you need not register now. You may register by choice: pick that answer. Apply within 30 days of turnover crossing ₹20 lakh.

Check the status with the ARN. If Aadhaar authentication is done and the officer does nothing in 7 working days, the application is treated as approved; with a site visit, after 30 days. If it is approved but no login details came, have them sent again with the "click here" link on the status page. If the problem remains, call the help desk.

Not confirmed: Section 24 of the Act lists more cases (for example people who pay tax under reverse charge, and agents who sell on behalf of others). Later notifications may have changed this list; we have not read them. Ask the GST help desk (1800-103-4786) about your case.
