Updating your Aadhaar
You change your address, mobile number, name, date of birth, photo or other details in Aadhaar, online or at an Aadhaar centre.
For whom: Anyone in Andhra Pradesh who has an Aadhaar and needs to change or correct a detail in it, or to give fresh documents or biometrics.
Published on 30-10-2026. Not every fact has been checked against its official source yet: confirm at the office.
Answer a few questions to see which steps apply to you. The whole guide is below.

Documents you need

•
Your Aadhaar (knowing the number is enough)
original
The Aadhaar letter, e-Aadhaar, PVC card, or just the Aadhaar number.
•
Aadhaar update form
original
The same form used for enrolment: tick "Update" and fill in only what changes. Form 1 for 18 and over, Form 3 for ages 5 to under 18, Form 5 for a child under 5. Fill it only in English capital letters.
If you don't have it:
The Aadhaar centre gives it. You can also download it from the "Enrolment & Update Forms" page of the UIDAI website.
•
Proof of address (in your name)
original
Any one of: Indian passport; ration card; voter ID card; service or pensioner photo card; Kisan photo passbook; MGNREGA job card together with a domicile certificate; marriage certificate issued by the government; SC/ST/OBC caste certificate; a bank passbook with photo, bank seal and an official's signature, or a post office savings passbook; a sealed and signed bank, credit card or post office statement not older than 3 months; an electricity, water, gas, phone or broadband bill not older than 3 months; a property tax receipt not older than a year; a registered sale or gift deed, or a rent or lease agreement; an insurance policy within a year of issue; a certificate in UIDAI's format from an MP, MLA, MLC, municipal councillor, Tahsildar, gazetted officer, or in villages the sarpanch, panchayat secretary or Village Revenue Officer (valid for 3 months). The full list is List IV of UIDAI's list of documents. If you have no proof in your own name: you can take the address in the Aadhaar of a head of family living in the same house (parent, spouse, child or sibling), with their consent, using a document showing the relationship or a self-declaration by the head of family in UIDAI's format (valid for 3 months).
If you don't have it:
In Andhra Pradesh, the list of AP Seva services at village and ward secretariats includes an "Address Certificate for Aadhar enrollment/Update". If you have no other proof in your name, ask at your secretariat.
📷 What the photo must look like
← 35 mm →
↕ 45 mm
• Size: 35 × 45 mm (width × height)
• In colour
• You need this photo only if you give the certificate in UIDAI's format as your proof.
• A recent colour photo.
• Paste it in the photo box of the certificate, without covering the text boxes.
• The certifying officer signs and stamps across the photo and the paper.
Not confirmed: The blank certificate says only "passport size"; the 35 mm × 45 mm size is printed on UIDAI's filled-in specimen of the same certificate. No background colour is given. Ask the officer who issues the certificate.
Not confirmed: We found no official document giving the fee, the time taken or who signs the secretariat's address certificate (the AP Seva and GSWS portals would not open because of certificate errors). Ask at the secretariat.
•
Proof of identity (with name and photo)
original
Any one of: Indian passport; ration card; voter ID card; driving licence; service or pensioner photo card; Kisan photo passbook; CGHS/ECHS/ESIC card; MGNREGA job card together with a domicile certificate; a government marriage certificate or a family court divorce decree (plus a photo ID in the old name if it has no photo); SC/ST/OBC caste certificate; mark sheet or certificate; transgender identity card (also valid for a change of gender or full name). To change the first name or the full name: a Gazette notification, together with an old identity proof in the old name; the address in the Gazette must match the one in your Aadhaar. The name goes into Aadhaar exactly as it is on the document.
•
Proof of date of birth
original
Any one of: birth certificate; Indian passport; service or pensioner photo card; mark sheet or certificate; transgender identity card. Under 18, only the birth certificate is accepted. If you gave a birth certificate before, give the corrected birth certificate with the same registration number (BRN). If you gave another document before, give a corrected copy of that document or a birth certificate. A woman whose name changed after marriage may give a document from before the marriage, with proof of the name change (such as the Aadhaar in the old name or a marriage certificate with both names).
•
Proof for a gender change (from the second time)
original
The first change of gender needs no document. To change it again after that: a medical certificate, or a transgender identity card.

What do you need to change in your Aadhaar? Address · Is a mobile number linked to your Aadhaar, and do you still have that number? Yes
1.
Log in to the myAadhaar website with your Aadhaar number and the OTP sent to your linked mobile. Choose "Address Update" and type the new address in English; it is turned into Telugu by itself, and you can correct it. Upload a clear colour scan (PDF or JPEG) of the original proof of address, with every page for documents such as a passport or rent agreement. The address you type must match the document. Then pay online.

Online services need a mobile linked to your Aadhaar; since you have none, go to an Aadhaar centre. Tick "Update" on the form, write the new address and show the original proof of address; you confirm with your fingerprint. Have your mobile number linked at the same time; details changed together cost the same ₹75. Keep the receipt: it shows the update request number (URN) or enrolment number (EID) and the charge paid. Take back your original documents after the operator scans them.

Show the original proof of identity for a new name, or the proof of date of birth for the date; the first change of gender needs no document. Small corrections and full changes to a name are both done only at a centre, not online. You confirm with your fingerprint. 10.
Even for a change beyond the limit, first make an ordinary update request at an Aadhaar centre with the right documents: for a name, a Gazette notification with a photo ID in the old name (or a divorce decree, adoption certificate or marriage certificate); for gender, a medical certificate or a transgender identity card; for the date of birth, its proof. It will be rejected because the limit is crossed; keep that request's slip (EID slip), as the next step needs it.

After the rejection, call 1947 or e-mail help@uidai.net.in. Give the EID number and ask for exception processing through the UIDAI Regional Office. Attach the latest EID slip and your documents to the e-mail. The Regional Office for Andhra Pradesh is in Swarna Jayanthi Complex, Ameerpet, Hyderabad (reception 040-23739269); you can also hand in the request there in person. UIDAI allows it only with a proper reason and after checking.

The compulsory update for children at 5 and 15 is done on its own, not combined with other changes. UIDAI recommends that adults update their biometrics every 10 years.
