You do this yourselfOnline

For whom: Anyone in Telangana who needs a new electricity meter for a home or a shop, or needs an existing connection moved into their name. For farm and industrial connections this guide only points the way.

    3Your steps

    · Do them in order. Tick each one when it is done.

    1. Do this now

Before you apply, check: the house wiring is complete (the company advises good wire and MCBs), there is an earth pit, the meter board is outside or in the veranda at least 5 feet above the ground, and the service pipe runs visibly on the wall.

There must be no electricity dues on the premises or in your name anywhere. Buildings of 15 metres and taller need CEIG approval.

    2. Do this now

On the TGSPDCL website open the "LT New Service" application and register with the OTP sent to your mobile.

Upload the documents and pay the fee online or by DD. You get an acknowledgement and an SMS; keep the application number. If you cannot apply online, you can apply at the nearest section office or Customer Service Centre.

      Online
      Fee
A home, 1 kW (1000 watts): development charges ₹1,200 + security deposit ₹200 + application fee ₹25 = ₹1,425. A shop, 1 kW: ₹1,200 + ₹800 + ₹50 = ₹2,050. 18% GST is added to the application fee and the development charges. On top of these come service line charges: since 19 January 2026, for a connection by overhead line within 1 km of the existing network, a fixed charge by load (a TGERC regulation), added to the total when you register. A home: ₹500 up to 1 kW; above 1 kW up to 5 kW, ₹500 plus ₹600 for each kW or part of one. A shop: ₹1,000 up to 1 kW; above 1 kW up to 5 kW, ₹1,000 plus ₹1,200 a kW. Higher rates above 5 kW. For apartments and commercial complexes the whole building's load counts. For these connections the company provides the transformer at its own cost. Beyond 1 km, service line charges are by estimate.
      Time limit
working days: to process the application and tell you the charges when the existing network can supply you (7 days when the network has to be extended)
      Open the official page

Not confirmed: The regulation does not say clearly whether the ₹600 (₹1,200 for a shop) between 1 and 5 kW is for each kW of the whole load or only for the load above 1 kW. The amount for your load is shown when you register; if in doubt, ask at the section office.

Only if new poles or a line are needed beyond 1 km is an estimate prepared and sanctioned. If you are asked to pay it, pay under "Payment against estimation" on the TGSPDCL website or by DD, and keep the receipt.

    If something goes wrong

    If it is rejected

If the application is rejected, ask for the reason (TGSPDCL sends it by SMS with a link to upload again). If that does not settle it, complain to your area's ADE (Operation), then the DE (Operation). If it is still not settled, go to your company's CGRF (Consumer Grievance Redressal Forum); new connections and name changes are within its scope.
