Udyam registration (MSME)
Your micro, small or medium enterprise (MSME) gets a Udyam Registration Certificate, online and free.
For whom: Anyone in Andhra Pradesh running or starting a manufacturing or service business who needs MSME status for bank loans or government schemes. Retail and wholesale traders can also register (for priority sector lending).
Tell us your situation first; then the documents and steps open.
1Your situation
A few questions. We show only the documents and steps your answers need.
- Do you already have one of these registrations?
- Is your enterprise's investment in plant, machinery or equipment up to ₹125 crore, and its yearly turnover up to ₹500 crore? (Exports are not counted in turnover.)
- Does the enterprise have a PAN? (For a sole proprietorship not registered under any other law, the owner's own PAN is enough.)
- Does your business have GST registration, or does the GST law require it to have one?
Your answers stay on this phone.
Each step below says who it is for. Confirm yours at the office, then change your answer here.
This route does not apply to your situation
From 1 April 2025, only enterprises with investment in plant, machinery or equipment up to ₹125 crore and yearly turnover up to ₹500 crore are micro, small or medium enterprises (MSMEs). If either is higher, the enterprise is not an MSME and cannot register on Udyam. Andhra Pradesh's MSME Policy 4.0 uses the same new limits for its incentives.
→ Udyam is only for MSMEs, so there is nothing to register here. For questions about your enterprise's classification, ask your District Industries Centre (DIC).
Another route for you
Udyam registration needs a PAN, and a GST number (GSTIN) when the GST law requires one. The Udyam Assist route is only for enterprises exempt from GST. Get a PAN first, then register on the Udyam portal.

- Do this nowIf: NoneIf: Yes, there is a PAN
Open udyamregistration.gov.in and choose new registration (New Registration).
This is the only official site the Ministry of MSME names; beware of fake sites with similar names.
Open the official pageNot confirmed: On 1 November 2026 the portal's security certificate had been revoked, so we did not open the portal. These steps are written from the government notifications and the Ministry's other sites; the buttons on the portal may be named a little differently. If your browser shows a security warning, do not enter your Aadhaar number; try later, or ask your District Industries Centre for help.

- Do this nowIf: Udyog Aadhaar (UAM) or EM-IIIf: Yes, there is a PAN
Udyog Aadhaar (UAM) and EM-II registrations are no longer valid (only until 30 June 2022); you must register again on the Udyam portal.
Use the portal's option for those who already have Udyog Aadhaar, and keep your old number at hand.
Open the official pageNot confirmed: Because we could not open the portal (its security certificate was revoked), we did not see what this option is called, where it sends the OTP, or whether EM-II holders should use new registration instead. If unsure, ask at your District Industries Centre.

- Do this nowIf: None / Udyog Aadhaar (UAM) or EM-IIIf: Yes, there is a PAN
Give the Aadhaar number and have it verified.
For a sole proprietorship it is the owner's; for a partnership, the managing partner's; for an HUF, the karta's. For a company, LLP, cooperative society, society or trust, the organisation or its authorised signatory gives the enterprise's PAN and GSTIN along with the Aadhaar number.
Open the official pageNot confirmed: Because we could not open the portal (its security certificate was revoked), we did not see how it verifies the Aadhaar number (for example by an OTP to the mobile linked to Aadhaar). If unsure, ask at your District Industries Centre.

- Do this nowIf: None / Udyog Aadhaar (UAM) or EM-IIIf: Yes, there is a PAN
Verify the PAN.
If the business is registered for GST, give the GSTIN too. The investment and turnover figures are linked to income tax returns and GST. All GSTINs under one PAN are treated as one enterprise. A new enterprise that has not yet filed an income tax return declares its investment itself.

- Do this nowIf: None / Udyog Aadhaar (UAM) or EM-IIIf: Yes, there is a PAN
Fill in the enterprise's details: name, addresses and its activities (manufacturing, services).
One enterprise has only one registration; any number of activities can be added to it. No documents or certificates are uploaded: it is all self-declaration. Knowingly giving false details, or hiding them, can bring a penalty under section 27 of the MSMED Act.

- Do this nowIf: None / Udyog Aadhaar (UAM) or EM-IIIf: Yes, there is a PAN
Submit the application.
When the registration is complete, the enterprise gets a permanent Udyam Registration Number (URN) and an e-certificate (Udyam Registration Certificate), online. Keep the certificate; banks go by the category (micro, small or medium) recorded in it.
Open the official pageNot confirmed: We could not check on the portal (we did not open it) how to print the certificate again or whether it is in DigiLocker.

- Do this nowIf: A Udyam registration
A registered enterprise must update its details on the portal, including the previous financial year's income tax return and GST return details.
If you do not update within the period the portal sets, the registration can be suspended. You are told if your category changes. After moving up a category, you keep the non-tax benefits of the old one for three years.
Open the official pageNot confirmed: The notification says the portal sets the period for updating; because we could not open the portal, we did not see that period or what the login option is called.

- Do this nowIf: No, it is exempt from GST because of its turnover
Ask your bank, an NBFC or another lender regulated by RBI to register you on the Udyam Assist Platform (UAP).
The platform is for informal micro enterprises that are exempt from filing GST returns; SIDBI runs it, and those lenders do the registration for you. You get a "Udyam Assist Certificate", which banks treat like a Udyam certificate for priority sector loans, counting you as a micro enterprise. The other way is to get a PAN and register yourself on the Udyam portal.
Not confirmed: The official papers we read do not say which documents this route needs, whether there is a charge, how long it takes, or which banks do it; the udyamassist.gov.in page gave us nothing we could read. Ask at the bank.

If something goes wrong
If it is rejected
If the portal does not accept your details, or the certificate has mistakes, complain on the Ministry of MSME's Champions portal under "UAM/Udyam Registration/Certificate related issues", or write to champions@gov.in. A discrepancy or complaint about a registration is enquired into by the head of your District Industries Centre (DIC), who sends it to the State's Director or Commissioner of Industries; details are amended, or cancellation recommended, only after you get a notice and a chance to present your case.
If it is late
The Udyam certificate is an online service; it should come online once registration is complete. If it does not, or the portal does not work, complain on the Champions portal or write to champions@gov.in. You can also ask for help at your District Industries Centre, or at the MSME Development and Facilitation Office in Visakhapatnam (MSME-DFO, Autonagar, 0891-2517942).
If you are asked for more money
Udyam registration has no fee and needs no documents uploaded. The Ministry of MSME warns against fake sites: the only official site is udyamregistration.gov.in. If anyone asks for money to register you, do not pay; the District Industries Centre helps free of cost. Complain on the Champions portal.
Also
For a complaint about a District Industries Centre's service, or about the State's MSME schemes, use the Andhra Pradesh Industries Department's online grievance form and choose your district, or send it through Mana Mitra WhatsApp on 95523 00009.
Also
If you cannot register yourself (for example, you have no Aadhaar yet), go to your District Industries Centre (DIC) or to an MSME-DFO, which runs an MSME Champions control room: these are single windows that help with registration. Without Aadhaar, take your Aadhaar enrolment slip or a copy of the enrolment request, a bank photo passbook, voter ID, passport or driving licence; they also help you get an Aadhaar number. Andhra Pradesh has a District Industries Centre in each of its 28 districts, each headed by a District Industries Officer. Their addresses and phone numbers are on the Industries Department's website (for example Visakhapatnam: Industrial Estate; NTR district: B2, Industrial Estate, Vijayawada; Guntur: Nagarampalem, opposite the Collectorate).
